Spencer Suderman began flying in the late 1980s and quickly advanced from private pilot to commercial pilot with an instrument rating. In 2002 he became a Certified Flight Instructor and now holds an FAA unrestricted Statement of Aerobatic Competency allowing him to perform solo and formation aerobatics down to surface level.
While working on his instrument rating, Spencer discovered aerobatics and quickly moved to the high performance Pitts S-2B. This beautiful aircraft weighs 1,210 pounds and has a magnificent matching red Penn Yan Aero built 260 horsepower IO-540 engine.
Intense gyroscopic maneuvers. Double Hammerhead and the Inverted Flat Spin. Corkscrew smoke trailing the spinning Meteor Pitts as it streaks towards the ground at over 6000′ feet per minute. Spencer’s air show performance requires solid, first-class engine performance. Spencer trusts Penn Yan Aero’s reliable performance.
Spencer H. Suderman (USA) achieved the Guinness World Record of 98 inverted flat spins at Yuma International Airport/MCAS Yuma, Arizona, USA on 20 March 2016.
